The Perfect Drift

Sombody just back of you while you are fishing is as bad as someone looking over your shoulder while you write a letter to your girl.

-Ernest Hemingway

Today’s adventure consisted off fishing with a childhood friend at two different spots. We fished a local spot that is pretty well know for having a good amount of fish in it this time a year and left with two takes. The fish today were best described as “spooky” and or “few and far between”. Once we decided that the spot was pretty much “cashed” we decided to move down the river a ways. Randy spoke of a spot quite a few times that seemed pretty promising in the late evening. When we walked up all we saw were 30 steelhead tails sticking out of the water. It was a blessing in disguise. Randy hooked up with this beautiful male that had a hard time coming back to life but finally made it. After that hook up they all spooked off. But I must say I was quite the sight to see.

Well folks it’s that time of year! Weve waited roughly 3 months for these beautiful fish to return to our precious tributaries. Stay tuned for some awesome steelhead pics.

Summers here!

It shouldn’t be long now until the steelhead start pushing up to spawn in fall. Last year over 9,000 fish were reported in a 10 mile stretch. Our best run in ten years some say. Hopefully we get another great year of steel. Stay tuned

Floated with a friend of mine from Alaska and got on some serious fish yesterday. Hopefully we get a good push next week but who knows, might be time to start fishing for pike until fall.

Real nice male from last night that my best friend Parker caught. Fish are starting to drop back and slow down. Some have spawned some havnt. Regardless it’s still pretty good fishing.
